This week I’m sharing an episode that’s very close to my heart. I spoke with Dr. Doreen Marshall, who is the Vice President of Programs for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She has also been engaged in local and national suicide prevention and postvention work for more than 15 years, which began after she herself lost someone close to suicide. In this episode, Dr. Marshall explains the different ways to protect your mental health during the pandemic, when everything seems out of our control. She then talks about some of the incredible research and work that’s being done at the AFSP. You can follow Dr. Marshall on Twitter at @DoreenSMarshall.
This episode is dedicated to Alex, who showed me how fun and rewarding it is to turn your passion into a project. If you’re feeling generous, please consider donating to his memorial fund: https://afsp.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.PersonalCampaign&participantID=1522510#donate.
If you or someone you love is in crisis, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or text TALK to 741741.
